ILLUMANESIMO
l'Illumanesimo A New Vision
of Humanity and Reality
Extended Abstract of the Book l'Illumanesimo
Illumanesimo — from the fusion of Umanesimo (Humanism) and Illuminismo (Enlightenment): the foundational volume of the eponymous philosophy.
This work presents the philosophical foundations of Illumanesimo: a theorem proposing a new vision of humanity and reality. It constitutes the theoretical nucleus of a philosophical-existential perspective, the fruit of decades of independent research on the themes of ontology, consciousness, and the meaning of life. The themes expounded here are detailed in my book L’Illumanesimo — Una nuova visione dell’uomo e della Realtà (2025), and also constitute the basis of a broader cultural proposal, which will be addressed in a separate document specifically dedicated to the social and civic dimension of the proposal. The work is founded upon the ontological unity between God and Reality, conceived as an autonomous, infinite whole not reducible to the sum of its manifestations. At the center of this architecture lies the concept of CEFA (Campo Energetico di Forze Autocoscienti — Energy Field of Self-Aware Forces), which functions as a principle of connection between spirit, matter, and consciousness, overcoming the fracture between the physical and metaphysical dimensions. The proposal culminates in an existential vision that reconfigures the status of the human being in its relationship with universal Reality.
In this work, Illumanist thought is also developed through critical dialogue with the principal contemporary movements. Through a systematic comparison with currents such as scientific materialism, existentialism, phenomenology, nihilism, transhumanism, and postmodern relativism, the epistemological, ethical, and evolutionary limitations of each position are highlighted, offering Illumanesimo not as a competing claim to truth, but as an integrative proposal. Far from rejecting contemporary knowledge, Illumanesimo welcomes its critical concerns and reworks them within a framework that combines logical rigor, metaphysical depth, and attention to concrete existential experience.
The substance of the proposal sees the human being as a transitory but not ephemeral being, and assigns to the body a new universal value in its role as an instrument for the knowledge of reality. In this conception, it is the CEFA that is called to know matter as one of the universal elements. The spirit (CEFA) therefore moves through matter in order to expand itself through its encounter with Reality. The proposal is also an invitation to reunite philosophy and science for a new form of inquiry into the human being, not only through the study of consciousness, but also through the analysis of the differences between matter and qualitative states of the mind.
GOD — REALITY — CEFA — HUMAN BEING
1. Positioning of the Work within the Illumanesimo Corpus
L’Illumanesimo constitutes the introductory and foundational volume of the eponymous philosophy. The work presents itself as a programmatic synthesis of a broader research endeavor, from which I have extracted the philosophical theorem articulated across the entire corpus: four further foundational volumes, each dedicated to a specific dimension of the system — Esperienze (origin and nature of the human being), La Realtà (ontological foundations of universal Reality and Spirit), Il senso di ogni vita (existential and transformative dimension), CEFA — Proposta di indagine (methodological bridge toward scientific investigation) — and three volumes of dialogue with the history of thought: Metafisica necessaria, Il filo d’oro della filosofia, and Oltre il nulla e la Gloria.
The subtitle of the work — A New Vision of Humanity and Reality — makes explicit its twofold ambition: on the one hand, to propose a renewed philosophical anthropology that surpasses both materialist reductionism and faith-based spirituality; on the other, to delineate a cosmology that reinterprets the relationship between the spiritual and material dimensions of existence. This dual tension — toward humanity and toward Reality — constitutes the supporting axis of the entire Illumanesimo project.
Within the Illumanesimo corpus, the volume assumes the function of an essential conceptual map: not an exhaustive treatment of individual themes — which will be developed in subsequent volumes — but a synthetic and organic presentation of the fundamental nuclei of the philosophical proposal. In this sense, the work simultaneously represents a privileged point of entry for the reader and a programmatic document that orients the entire architecture of the system, including its relationship with the major currents of contemporary thought.
2. Structure and Thematic Articulation
The work is organized into two parts that are structurally and functionally distinct, each responding to a specific requirement of the philosophical project.
2.1. First Part: Exposition of the Foundations
The first section of the volume presents the cardinal concepts of Illumanesimo through four interconnected core themes.
I. God as Impersonal Origin of Being.
Illumanesimo proposes a radical reformulation of the concept of God, which distances itself from traditional theological conceptions to position itself beyond manifested Reality. God is conceived as an uncaused first cause, endowed with the substance, essence, will, consciousness, force, and power necessary to emanate and sustain an infinite and absolute Reality. Universal Reality is not “created” by God in the sense of creatio ex nihilo, but springs forth from God’s essence as a necessary emanation, manifesting itself according to perfect and immutable divine principles. This conception — which presents affinities with emanationist Neoplatonism and Spinozian monism, while distinguishing itself from them in crucial aspects — enables the surpassing of both personalistic theism and materialistic atheism.
II. Universal Reality and Its Order. Reality is conceived as a dynamic unity in which every element, though differentiated, participates in the same divine origin. Illumanesimo characterizes it through fundamental attributes: completeness and infinitude (it contains all elements necessary to its own existence); divine substance founded upon universal energy; motion as the principle of life (without movement there is no existence); intrinsic organizational intelligence; evolutionary capacity toward ever-new complexities. Reality is not a neutral object to be dominated, but a living order endowed with internal coherence and proper meaning, which offers itself as a terrain of experience, evolution, and knowledge for the CEFA.
III. The CEFA — Campo Energetico di Forze Autocoscienti (Energy Field of Self-Aware Forces). The neologism CEFA constitutes one of the most distinctive terminological contributions of Illumanesimo, introduced to overcome the cultural and religious connotations sedimented in the term “spirit.” The CEFA designates a self-aware, individual subjective structure, endowed with freedom, intelligence, and an instinct toward evolution. It is not a single, undifferentiated universal principle, but a multiplicity of individual entities, each different according to its own evolutionary level, autonomous and free within universal Reality. The CEFA is not a symbolic or consolatory concept: it is an active ontological principle, rationally deduced from the structure of qualitative experience irreducible to materiality alone.
IV. The Relationship between Body and CEFA. The final foundational section analyzes the relationship between the spiritual and corporeal dimensions from an existential perspective. The human being is conceived as a point of convergence between matter and CEFA: through the body, the CEFA explores and comprehends material Reality, accomplishing its own evolutionary development. Incarnation is not a fall or punishment, but an evolutionary choice oriented toward knowledge. The existential program — a project elaborated by the CEFA before each incarnation — defines the fundamental experiences to be accomplished, manifesting itself as a line of tendency through deep inclinations, spontaneous interests, and inner necessities.
2.2. Second Part: Dialogue with Artificial Intelligence
The second section of the volume presents an unprecedented intellectual experiment in the philosophical domain: the systematic comparison between Illumanesimo and fifteen contemporary philosophical currents, conducted with artificial intelligence in the role of critical evaluator. The author forcefully specifies that Illumanesimo is in no way a product of generative AI, but the result of an authentically human intellectual journey that has integrated philosophical examinations, scientific investigations, and existential reflections. AI assumes exclusively the role of external judge, offering an innovative testing ground.
The fifteen comparisons systematically address the principal positions of contemporary thought: scientific materialism, humanist existentialism, phenomenology, contemporary spiritualism, ethical philosophy, nihilism, radical transhumanism, cultural and postcolonial relativism, naturalist neuroscience, testimony of radical evil, pragmatic utilitarianism, reductionist scientism, relativist postmodernism, aesthetic-existential nihilism, utilitarian rational egoism. For each comparison, AI formulates objections, Illumanesimo responds, and AI issues a comparative judgment.
This dialogical experiment responds to a twofold requirement: on the one hand, to verify the solidity and internal coherence of the Illumanesimo system by subjecting it to challenges from radically different perspectives; on the other, to demonstrate the capacity of the proposal to dialogue with contemporary knowledge without closing itself into a dogmatic system. The reader is invited to observe the dynamics of the exchange, evaluate its conclusions, and form a personal conviction.
3. Fundamental Theses and Philosophical Positioning
Illumanesimo takes the form of a philosophical proposal that emerges in a specific “critical space,” identified in the crisis of foundations that characterizes contemporary thought. On the one hand, materialist currents reduce the individual to a biological epiphenomenon or a social construct; on the other, spiritualist responses take refuge in premodern models incapable of engaging with contemporary standards of rational inquiry. Illumanesimo puts itself forward as a “third way” — not an eclectic synthesis nor an accommodating syncretism, but a surpassing of the historical dichotomies of Western thought.
Pluralistic Monism. Against Cartesian dualism and against materialist reductionism, Illumanesimo proposes a pluralistic monism: Reality is a fundamental unity that hosts a multiplicity of self-aware centers, each free and autonomous. CEFA entities are not passive fragments of an indistinct whole, but individual entities that, while rooted in the same divine substance, follow their own evolutionary itinerary. Spirit and matter are not ontologically separate substances, but different configurations of the same universal energy.
Surpassing of Dichotomies. Illumanesimo intends to surpass the traditional oppositions between spirit and matter, immanence and transcendence, determinism and freedom, sacred and profane, reason and faith. This is not a matter of compromises, but of a conceptual reconfiguration that recognizes the human being in its entirety, as a free subject, a universal subject conscious of and responsible for its own interior and spiritual evolution.
Non-Dogmatic Structure. Illumanesimo presents itself as a philosophical theorem — a logical-deductive construction founded on qualitative and experiential evidence — and not as a system of revealed truths. It does not require fideistic adherence but argumentative understanding; it explicitly recognizes its own epistemological limits; it submits itself to the test of dialogue, criticism, and engagement with the sciences. This openness is not theoretical weakness, but methodological coherence.
Ontological Foundation of Ethics. If every individual consciousness is also a manifestation of a CEFA endowed with intrinsic ontological dignity, mutual recognition between persons is not a social convention nor an abstract categorical imperative, but a logical consequence of the very structure of Reality. Ethics becomes a coherent expression of the profound nature of conscious beings, escaping both relativism and moralistic absolutism.
Reconciliation between Metaphysics and Concrete Life. Illumanesimo shows how every daily act already implies a metaphysical position. Metaphysics is not an intellectual luxury, but the very necessary structure of being-in-the-world. To recognize it explicitly means to live more consciously, to choose more authentically, to participate more responsibly in the construction of meaning.
4. Historical-Philosophical Placement and Originality
Illumanesimo consciously evokes intuitions from diverse philosophical traditions — from Spinozian monism to Hegelian objective idealism, from Husserlian phenomenology to Eastern cosmologies — and draws upon key principles of historical Humanism and the Enlightenment, as attested by its very denomination. However, it constitutes an autonomous philosophical system, endowed with an original conceptual apparatus.
The originality of the proposal resides in the specific configuration of its elements: an impersonal divine that grounds without absorbing; an emanation that does not degrade multiplicity; the plurality of free spiritual subjects within universal principles; qualitative evolution as an unending dynamic; incarnation chosen by the Spirit to know matter from within; symbolization as an operative bridge between experience and spiritual knowledge. Every single element has historical precedents; the overall configuration is new and responds to questions left open by the doctrines evoked.
The ideas expounded arise from a reflection independent of academic institutions and, precisely for this reason, are perhaps more original. Illumanesimo does not intend to replace other paradigms, but to promote a renewed inquiry into the essential questions of existence — questions that, despite the apparent indifference of contemporary culture, continue to surface in individual consciousness.
5. Methodology and Argumentative Style
The volume adopts a methodological approach characterized by specific traits that reflect the overall epistemic posture of Illumanesimo.
In the first place, the work privileges expository clarity over terminological complexity, rendering demanding philosophical concepts accessible without sacrificing their depth. The introduction of the neologism CEFA exemplifies this tension: lexical innovation aimed at liberating the concept from the semantic stratifications of the term “spirit,” enabling a conceptually neutral approach.
In the second place, the argumentative method is characterized by logical-deductive construction. Illumanesimo presents itself as a philosophical theorem: a set of logically connected propositions that can be examined, discussed, refuted, or confirmed through rational criteria. This structure radically distinguishes the proposal from syncretic or intuitive spiritualist visions.
6. Perspectives within the Illumanesimo Cultural Project
L’Illumanesimo systematically prepares the themes that will be developed in subsequent volumes of the philosophical corpus.
Esperienze takes up and develops the philosophical anthropology here delineated, deepening the relationship between Spirit, soul, and body, the existential program, the dynamics of experience, and the process of symbolization through which material experiences become spiritual knowledge.
La Realtà provides the systematic and rigorous treatment of ontological foundations: the nature of the CEFA, the structure of universal Reality, divine principles and laws, in a properly metaphysical perspective.
Il senso di ogni vita articulates the existential and transformative dimension of the philosophy, developing the passage from abstract metaphysics to philosophy as a concrete existential guide: no longer merely a theory of Spirit, but an incarnate experience that generates knowledge through lived bodily experience.
CEFA — Proposta di indagine represents the methodological opening toward possible indirect empirical testing of the Illumanist hypotheses, proposing an interdisciplinary research program to identify deep individual tendencies irreducible to genetic and cultural determinations.
Metafisica necessaria places Illumanesimo in the context of contemporary philosophical debate through dialogue with thinkers such as Massimo Cacciari, Giorgio Agamben, Quentin Meillassoux, and Markus Gabriel, articulating the Illumanist diagnosis of the necessity for a return to metaphysics in the age of technology.
Il filo d’oro della filosofia extends the dialogue to the great traditions of Western thought, from Socrates to the French existentialists, testing the coherence of the proposal against the perennial questions of philosophy.
Oltre il nulla e la Gloria concludes the comparative phase with the most demanding encounter: the confrontation with Emanuele Severino on Being, becoming, and nothingness.
7. Conclusions
L’Illumanesimo stands as the foundational work of a broad and ambitious philosophical project: to propose a coherent and unitary vision of the human being and Reality in an epoch marked by the fragmentation of thought and the crisis of foundations. Its specific contribution resides in having delineated a new horizon from which to observe the human — where freedom is a constitutive principle, knowledge an expression of being, ethics a manifestation of the most authentic nature.
The volume represents the beginning of an intellectual journey potentially destined to transform the perception of reality, consciousness, and the meaning of existence. A path that does not offer easy answers, but tools for orienting oneself in the mystery and wonder of being. It belongs to the very nature of Illumanist thought “not to exhaust itself in answers, but to perpetuate itself in questions; not to crystallize into certainties, but to renew itself in doubt; not to close itself in self-sufficiency, but to open itself to conscious action, to the encounter with the other and with the unknown.”
Ultimately, Illumanesimo is an invitation to thought, a stimulus to dialogue, and a contribution to contemporary philosophical debate — not a closed system, but a path founded on inner freedom, responsibility, and the search for the meaning of existence, within the frame of a new cultural proposal.
